Toi- Ohomai Institute of Technology (New Zealand)

Toi-Ohomai is a large vocational tertiary institute located in the Bay of Plenty and South Waikato regions. It was formed in 2016 by merging Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and Waiariki Institute of Technology. The institute has more than 14,000 students and offers over 150 programmes—from certificate and diploma through to degree and postgraduate levels—in fields such as business, engineering, health, hospitality, forestry, creative arts and primary industries. With multiple campuses (Rotorua, Tauranga, Taupō, Tokoroa, Whakatāne) and many delivery sites, it emphasises practical, work-ready skills, small class sizes, and strong support for international students.

Undergraduate (UG) Entry Requirements – Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology (New Zealand):

  • Completion of NEB or HSEB (Grade 12) from Nepal or an equivalent qualification.

  • Students should have an overall average of at least 60–75%, depending on the programme.

  • Some courses may require specific subjects, such as Mathematics or Science.

  • English language requirement: IELTS 6.0 overall, with no band lower than 5.5, or equivalent scores in TOEFL or PTE Academic.

  • Applicants must submit academic transcriptsschool certificates, and passport copies.

  • Students who do not meet direct entry criteria can take a foundation or English pathway programme before starting their main course.

Postgraduate (PG) Entry Requirements – Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology (New Zealand):

  • recognized bachelor’s degree (Level 7 or equivalent) from a university or tertiary institution, preferably in a relevant field.

  • For postgraduate diplomas or master’s programmes, students generally need a minimum of a B average or equivalent.

  • Relevant work experience may be considered for admission into applied or professional programmes.

  • English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no band lower than 6.0, or an equivalent English proficiency test result.

  • Submission of official transcriptsdegree certificates, a CV, and a statement of purpose is required.

  • Some programmes may also request references or a research proposal, depending on the study level.
