Unitec Institute of Technology (New Zealand)

Unitec, also known by its Māori name Te Whare Wānanga o Wairaka, is Auckland’s largest institute of technology and polytechnic. Established in 1976, it offers a broad spectrum of programmes—from certificates and diplomas to bachelor’s and master’s degrees—across many fields including trades and technology, health, business, arts, and construction. With its main Mt Albert campus and a secondary campus in Waitākere, Unitec emphasises hands-on, employment-oriented learning and close industry links. Undergraduate (UG) Entry Requirements – Unitec Institute of Technology (New Zealand):

  • Completion of NEB or HSEB (Grade 12) from Nepal or an equivalent secondary qualification.

  • Applicants must meet the New Zealand University Entrance standard, usually requiring a minimum of 60–75% overall, depending on the chosen course.

  • Some programmes, such as Engineering or IT, may require specific subjects like Mathematics or Science.

  • English language requirement: IELTS 6.0 overall, with no band lower than 5.5, or an equivalent score in TOEFL or PTE Academic.

  • Applicants need to provide academic transcriptscertificates, and a copy of passport.

  • Students who do not meet direct entry standards can start with a foundation or bridging programme offered by Unitec.

Postgraduate (PG) Entry Requirements – Unitec Institute of Technology (New Zealand):
